Play Therapy
Play is more than just fun; it’s how children make sense of their world. At Together Tree Therapy, we offer play therapy in Louisville because we know that children process big emotions, experiences, and relationships best through play. While adults talk things out, kids play things out.
Backed by research and recognized by the Association for Play Therapy (APT), play therapy is a developmentally appropriate, evidence-based way to help children feel seen, heard, and understood. Whether your child is coping with anxiety, adjusting to family changes, or working through trauma, play provides a natural, safe space for healing to begin.
Types of Play Therapy
Child-Centered
In Child-Centered Play Therapy, your child leads the way. This non-directive approach allows children to express themselves through play at their own pace, while the therapist offers a calm, supportive presence. It’s especially helpful for children working through anxiety, behavior challenges, or big changes.
Synergetic
Synergetic Play Therapy blends play with nervous system science. The therapist joins the child in their emotional world, offering co-regulation and connection to help them feel safe while working through tough feelings. It’s ideal for kids who are highly sensitive, neurodivergent, or healing from trauma.
Theraplay
Theraplay strengthens the parent-child bond through structured, playful interactions. By bringing caregiver and child together in session, it builds trust, connection, and emotional safety, especially for families navigating attachment issues, adoption, or trauma.
