At Together Tree Therapy, we specialize in Exposure and Response Prevention therapy (ERP) in Louisville for individuals struggling with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety-related challenges. ERP is one of the most effective, evidence-based treatments for OCD and is backed by decades of clinical research.

While OCD can feel overwhelming and confusing, healing is possible with the right support, strategies, and a therapist who understands how to help you face fears without being consumed by them.

What is ERP Therapy?

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) designed to help people confront anxiety-provoking thoughts or situations in a gradual, structured way, without relying on compulsions or avoidance to feel safe. Over time, this builds tolerance for discomfort, reduces anxiety, and helps rewire the brain’s response to fear.

ERP works by helping clients:

  • Face fears and intrusive thoughts safely and intentionally (exposure)

  • Refrain from doing the usual rituals or avoidance behaviors (response prevention)

  • Learn that anxiety naturally reduces over time without needing to “fix” it

At Together Tree Therapy, we offer ERP therapy for adults, teens, and children. We take a developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed approach, meeting each client where they are with compassion, creativity, and structure.

For younger clients, ERP may be integrated into play, story, or movement. For teens and adults, sessions focus on building insight, increasing tolerance for uncertainty, and learning how to respond to fear in new, empowering ways.
